Feather Dance

How in tune are you with the subtleties influencing your life?  The downy feather in this photo is so sensitive to the slightest breath of wind, that it is able to reflect its force, direction, and patterns. We are bombarded with myriad demands for our attention every day.  Beneath these highways lie the more refined pulses of life...our signposts, if we are able to catch their voice and see the pathway that lies ahead.

This story is about the little things that often go unnoticed, yet often steer the ship we call life.  The more in tune we are with these subtle energies, the easier it is for us to raise our life sails and catch the wind of change and opportunity.  Some people are naturally more sensitive than others, but it suits all to work on this ability.

How do you enhance these?  Through meditation, reflection, unplugging from the world, and writing about your thoughts, feelings, and purpose.  So often we think it's the outside factors that direct us - a family member needs this, my job requires me to do that, and on and on.  We forget we have choice, real choice in our lives.  Others make them all the time and we look at them with jealousy, or ridicule, for letting go of the safety nets and chartering their own course.  Of course, making no choice is still a choice.  And, it is easier sometimes to play the victim and let the world know how difficult we have it, how we've sacrificed for this or that.  But, in the end, beyond all the positioning, we are making choices and cannot blame anyone else for them.

Coming full circle, we go back to the subtle within...the voices and signposts that tell us the riches within lie by taking this job, by saying no to that, by saying yes to our journey.  It may not seem as safe or sure as your current course of action.  It may take years of maneuvering your ship through the safe waters of the cove to show you that these whispers on the winds can be trusted.  When that time comes, raise the anchor, hoist the sails, and sail into your destiny.
